Adrien and Marianne of Looks Good from the Back
This week in the Site Spotlight are Adrien and Marianne of Looks Good From the Back. I discovered their blog through Beautifully Invisible’s Link Love and they’ve been must-reads ever since. They bring a welcome dose of humor to fashion, whether they’re writing about their own outfit posts or poking fun at famous street fashion photos. If I loved this blog any more, I would have to marry it.
About them
Adrien: I am a non-profit researcher with an unholy love for unaffordable handbags. I started blogging nearly ten years ago when I had a really awful temp job that needed to be documented because nobody would believe me otherwise. Now I co-write a personal style blog with my friend Marianne, who I’ve known for over twelve years. I live in Virginia with my artist husband and two ungrateful cats and when I’m not working, shopping or emailing Marianne, I’m probably riding my mountain bike.
Marianne: I work in television production, which sounds super glamorous but really means I am on a computer in a greige cube a lot of the day. Besides writing this blog with Adrien, I love cooking, swimming, and throwing parties. I live in Tennessee with my musician/composer Husband, our ridiculous two-year-old Lulu, and our fickle beagle Buster. I want too many pairs of wooden heeled shoes, and I spend a stupid amount of time contemplating my hair.
About Looks Good From the Back
Adrien: We started the blog when we realized we were emailing each other pretty much daily about shopping and outfits. Why just pester each other when we can pester the whole Internet?
Marianne: Literally one day we were emailing each other and basically said OMG WE SHOULD START A BLOG. I think we had a name and URL the next day.
What they write about
Adrien: We write about all the really, really important things – outfits, shopping, obsessing over stuff, making fun of annoying fashion people, and cute boys. Oh, and important world issues. Okay, not really that last one. The blog started with the two of us posting daily outfits and our main mission is to be realistic. We aren’t 19-year-old pigeon-toed models with unlimited funds and we have to be (more or less) office-appropriate. We are crafty with our purchases and struggle to be creative with our existing wardrobes. But, sometimes we buy another striped shirt even though we already have twelve. (And by “we” I clearly mean me.)
Marianne: Some people might not realize that our email posts are really lifted directly from real emails. I think something that makes us different is we are just normal gals in our mid 30′s, working office jobs, but who also like clothes. We know just enough about fashion to be dangerous, but we are fully willing to poke fun at some of the more ridiculous heavy hitters in the industry. I mean y’all, it’s just clothes! Lighten up!
