Outfit post: In the shadows

Outfit photo: CK shirt, Habitual denim, Payless necklace, Nine West shoes

On this cool early summer day, I wound up standing in the shadows of our yard. Maybe not the best photography choice, given that the cooler weather led me to wear shades of grey and dark wash (as it tends to do).

Squint through the shadows and you’ll see a dark grey CK shirt I’ve had forever. It has an elastic drawstring just under the bustline which saves it from being another plain shirt–but doesn’t work so well with the hands-at-the-hips pose (oops). Stretchiness aside, I also like the wider neckline and ¾-length sleeves of this shirt.

The jeans are from Habitual in a medium dark wash. I love them because the waistband is near my actual waist, a requirement for someone without a completely flat belly–which is to say, everyone. (Whoever thought those super low rise jeans were a good idea, anyway?)

With all that dark together, I thought I’d break it up with bright spots of turquoise in the necklace and shoes.

Did I save this dark outfit with enough color? Or does it look too dreary to you?

Shirt: CK Calvin Klein (no longer available; similar from Calvin Klein; $45)
Denim: Habitual, $195 (similar from Habitual; $195)
Shoes: Nine West (no longer available; similar from Nine West, $59)
Necklace: Payless (no longer available; similar from Kenneth Cole, $48)
Outfit level: 2

I love the contrasting jewelry to the rest of your outfit — it definitely saves the outfit!!

In fact, you should definitely submit it to The Wear To Go Girls FB Page for their “Look of the Week” — there’s tons of outfit inspiration on the wall and yours would be great to add into the mix. Check it out here — http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Wear-to-go-Girls/138631736207424

Hope you have a fab rest of your day!

Thanks Emily! I don’t know if it makes the level of a Look of the Week :) but I’ll definitely check out their Facebook page. Maybe this week’s look will be worth a submission!
