How Pinterest helped me change my hair
Have you discovered Pinterest yet? It’s a site that allows you to clip interesting photos together into boards, similar to the mood boards that designers use. It’s a great way to collect inspiring images. Which is how I wound up using it to change my hair.
I’d already booked an appointment for highlights–my first ever–for a bit of a fun change. Then, in this summer’s ridiculous heat and humidity, I struggled with the longer length I’d let my hair grow out to. I started feeling choppy as well.
So I collected images on Pinterest of subtle highlights in brunette hair, as well as variations on layered bobs, my tried-and-true favorite cut.
Then, when I was in my stylist‘s chair on Monday, I pulled out my iPhone and opened the Pinterest app to my “crowning glory” board, so I could show him the examples I’d saved.
Here’s the hair change formula:
The result was a bit shorter than I’d planned going in, but with a month of summer left to go, I’m not too upset. And my hair grows like a weed, so it won’t be long before it’s, well, longer.

What a great way to find a new style. I just started on Pintrest and I haven’t quite figured it out yet.
Love the new cut and color too!
Thanks! Pinterest is great for all kinds of inspiration.
