Outfit post: Wee kilted lassie
One of the great things about the July DC Fashion and Beauty Bloggers meet-up at the Carbon boutique in DC was getting to meet many of its featured green and locally based designers and to see their work up close. I fell in love with this skirt from Kim Schalk; it evokes a kilt with its shaping and the little leather pouch attached to the front. And since my husband and I are attending a wedding this weekend with a “skirts and kilts” dress code, that gave me the perfect excuse to buy it. :)
Allie of Wardrobe Oxygen gave me the idea of wearing it with not just with white, but with tops in other bold colors, so I pulled out this LOFT tank top and loved the way it looked with the green and blue. (Does the tank look familiar?)
You might notice the light in this photo is more evening than morning; I was on my way to a ladies’ night out at the movies! So I decided to dress things up a bit with silver slides from Kate Spade (thank you, Rue La La!) and a silver clutch from Payless.
I decided to leave my sunglasses on because I’ve been enjoying them so much this summer; they were another Rue La La find. Who knew blue-framed Ray Bans would work so well?
- Have you ever had to dress for a theme wedding?
- Do you wear local and/or eco-friendly designers?

Oh, I love the color blocking you’ve got going on! And that fabulous kelly green skirt!
I’ve never been to a themed wedding, but it sounds like a lot of fun!
Thanks! I have to give credit to Allie for the idea, otherwise I would’ve just defaulted to white. And this is my first theme wedding, so it should be interesting!
Yay, love seeing you in that adorable skirt, and love how you paired it with that tank! :)
Thanks! It’s such a fun little skirt.
