Outfit post: Retro again in a denim shirtdress
Another week, another retro look! When I hit the Calvin Klein outlet this summer, I picked up two swirly skirt dresses, the one you’ve already seen, and this one in denim.
This is one of my favorite silhouettes; it doesn’t really get more flattering than a fitted top with an A-line pleated skirt.
It’s made out of a rather heavy denim-like cotton. (Does that make it denim? Textile geeks, weigh in please.) So it should carry me through cooler weather if I layer it over long-sleeve tops or wear with a cardigan plus tights and boots.
On this day it was still warm enough to wear in summer mode. It’s self-belted, but I wanted to try out my new leather belt which picks up the colors in my sandals.
Something about a shirtdress makes me want to wear a scarf. I first tried one in a blue print, but it was too plain; the leopard stands out much better, I think.

Shoes: Pour La Victoire Mali, on sale for $114.40.
