Outfit post: Copycat
One of the best things about reading other people’s personal style blogs (perhaps this one?) is getting inspiration for putting together outfits for yourself–maybe even for buying something like the blogger is wearing.
Which is exactly how this outfit came to be. It all started–as these things often do–with the shoes. Back in August, Jennine of The Coveted wrote about finding a pair of walkable, animal print Pencey booties–at half off.
To die shoes, on sale. One of the last sizes left was mine. Sold!
They arrived, in the midst of August heat, where I ogled them, awaiting the day the weather would be cool enough to break them out.
So when that happened last week, I needed an outfit to wear them with. What better inspiration than the original Coveted post? You can call this my copycat version.
I don’t have orange jeans (yet), but I do have this brightly colored H&M blouse in an usual shape, with dolman sleeves and gathering at the front–which is a little hard to photograph, I discovered.
That meant the olive/khaki part of the combination went on the bottom, so I wore these pseudo cargo pants by Sanctuary.
If I did this outfit again, I think I’d either cuff up these pants, or wear the skinny khaki H&M jeans I have that zip at the ankle–the better to show off the leopard shoe showpiece.
Top: H&M. ($45, orange pussy bow blouse at ASOS)
Pants: Sanctuary Peace bootcut. ($70, Piperlime)
Shoes: Pencey Melun. ($275 at Neiman Marcus; sorry, the Shopbop sale is over!)
Outfit level: 2/3.

Oh I LOVE the booties. And they look lovely with the color combo.
Love this look. Olive and leopard print is one of my favorite pairings! I picked up a pair of Cole Haan leopard booties a couple of years ago (half off!) that have become my go-to’s when I need a little fierce.
And who doesn’t need a little fierce from time to time? :)
