About the Coach
I’m not a fashion magazine editor. I don’t claim a degree from FIT. You won’t catch me competing on “Project Runway” (though you might find me stalking the fabulous Tim Gunn!).
But I do love fashion and style, and have been following it — and practicing it — for over 20 years.
My first awareness of fashion and the use of clothes to create both an aesethetic and a persona came at 16 when I came across, then subscribed to, W and Interview magazines. Soon thereafter, I became one of the charter subscribers to the new American edition of Elle magazine; it made such an impression that, as yearbook editor my senior year (1987-88), I designed my book’s layouts and themes around it, fonts and all.
In college, after returning from my junior year abroad in England, I wrote my senior Communications thesis on women’s fashion magazines in the U.S. and U.K.
I’ve been shopping and closet editing ever since.
Now I’m a mom of 1 with (another) full-time job in interactive marketing. I know the challenges of fashion that fits for work and play, day and night. And, especially, on a budget.
I’m here to help you find a fit, too. I’ll be posting weekly, and answering your questions.
And if you need more detailed, personalized recommendations, please contact me to get style advice.
Affiliate Disclosure
I care a lot about this blog. Enough, in fact, to find every way I can to turn it into a real, growing business. The main way I do that right now is through affiliate links. I’m a member of two affiliate programs, Amazon Associates and Commission Junction. (These are the two biggies that pretty much everybody who does affiliate linking belongs to.)
But not everything I link to is an affiliate link.
I search for things I like and write my advice posts first. Then, if any of the products can be found through one of my affiliate programs, I’ll use an affiliate link there because, well, that’s pretty much the point of joining an affiliate program, isn’t it? :)
And if I can find shoes on Zappos, I’ll always start there first because their selection can’t be beat and I’m a longtime, loyal VIP customer. (And not just VIP as an idea, but VIP as an actual thing, as in their vip.zappos.com program.) In fact, that’s one of the reasons I signed up with Commission Junction. I figured if I’m always going to link to Zappos, why shouldn’t I be rewarded for it?
So if you like a specific product I’ve recommended, and it happens to have an affiliate link that you click on to purchase, then thank you. If not, I hope you’ve still found some value in the advice and ideas I’ve provided you.
